So, how does an idea become an actual physical book? This is where a basic understanding of our publishing process helps. Your editor works with you throughout this process and is available to answer any and all questions for you.
Book Conception and Proposal
All books begin with an initial, well-defined idea that is then transformed by you into a detailed proposal. Galileo Press uses this proposal to determine if it should be published as a book.
Writing and Editing
Once your proposal is accepted and a contract has been negotiated, you write and submit chapters according to our specific instructions, using our own in-house writing template. Your manuscript is thoroughly reviewed and copyedited. This takes it from a manuscript to a publishable book.
Typesetting and Publication
After all editing and reviews are complete the manuscript is typeset and you and your editor ensure that the book is ready for publication. The book is then printed and shipped.
Marketing and Promotion
Marketing efforts for your book begin months before its actual publication. Marketing efforts include catalogs, flyers, advertisements, and special events. We invite you to participate fully in all marketing efforts since they translate to greater visibility and higher sales of your book.
